Well another year of sports camp has gone by and once again I was very proud of our MIS students. I have many highlights of this year, I will never forget Jordan's relentless efforts to keep cheering the team on and Ben's Happy Feet! Who will ever forget Katelyn's brilliant Basketball shot...into the wrong hoop? I hope she now laughs about it as it was very funny! :) The boys rugby team played out of their skins in the semi final and they should all be very proud of themselves, we asked them to put bodies on the line and they sure did against a team that was 3 times as fast and twice as big. It was a fantastic effort, go twinkle toes Tim, big respect to Nick, Jarrod and Nathan who played amazingly well. For the first time ever, we made the softball semi final, it was close and had we not just finished a rugby semi I think we may have won...though I dont think my heart could have taken the stress of another softball game.
Fantastic effort from the netball girls, although I know very little about netball, I sure do know a good team when I see one. The girls went undefeated throughout the whole week and I am sure some of them demonstrated super human agility with some of their intercepts...I mean seriously, how did Steff get her arm to grow 12 inches?? If I was Irene Van Dyke, I would be seriously concerned after seeing the brilliance of Janaya and Briar under the net...way to shoot girls.
Both volleyball teams were brilliant...well until their finals where a little concentration was lost, however the improvement in your understanding of the game was clear and I will never forget Annies 14 point run on serve.
Once again we dominated Boys Hockey. Led by the talented Mr Harley Bonnar, the boys won the trophy for Hockey, beating Cambridge 2 - 0 in the final. Tuff Tim was amazing in goal and Harley was backed by a number of extremely talented players, Nathan, Jarrod (those two again), Ryan, Zac, Brett (stick down Brett), Bradley (Before he went home injured...again) and Jono.
There are many moments of brilliance and hilarity that I could mention but I will leave the rest up to you. Please leave your comments for others to read. Hopefully you will inspire the year 7s to go for it next year.
Thank you all for a tremendous effort.
Lets Go Morrinsville Lets Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winter olympics was awesome! it was so busy and there was always someone cheering our team on which was meean. My basketball shot? thats probably the most embarassing thing that has ever happened to me! atleast someone thinks its funny =]
the netball was soo much fun and it was cool as that we won all of our games! the other teams had no chance with us as tight as we were!
if you're a form 1 i advise you to go hard for the sports and get noticed you won't want to miss out on going next year! thanks to miss williams and miss walters for taking care of us when we were there! its one of the experiences i'll never forget
Next year, I am going to try my very best to get into winter olympics.
Only 1 question. How do you play wall ball?
Please reply to my comment.
It sounds really cool and I want to go next year.
You should definitely try really hard to go to Winter Olympics I think that you would have heaps of fun and there are lots of people there! You can make new friends, learn heaps and have fun playing competitive sport.
Wall ball is a game the Totara Springs staff made and there is this tarpaulin that is stuck up by poles it stands vertically up and your team is positioned on the court evenly and to serve you stand outside the back of the court,
You throw the ball straight over the wall, you can't see the opposition and it has to land in the court. If the other team catches the ball they throw it back over and if they don't get it over the point goes to the other team
It’s kind of like volley ball and netball combined! You can’t step with the ball and when throwing it one of your feet has to be on the ground
The first team to score 15 points wins and you swap sides for round 2and 3.
I hope that helped =]
OH MY GOSH that was the best experience I have ever had, I wish I was still there. So to the year 7's if you wanna go to winter Olympics start going for sports because it’s a one in a life time opportunity. The girls basketball was so tense but it was super cool how kaydi got the ball in the wrong basket. It was so awesome to win the netball at the end when we won every one was jumping, screaming and jumping on each other I will never forget that moment. The people their were really nice to. I was so excited on the first night me and micky slept on the floor and me and micky were Irish dancing.
I really wish camp went for longer.
SOUNDS LIKE YOU GUYS HAD A FABULOUS TIME JORDAN KEEP YOUR SMILE UP <: <:

yey thanks to miss williams and miss walters for taking care of us, it was awsome and I'm glad you were the teachers that took us.Thanks miss williams for bringing oliver.
Winter Olympics was mean as. We got smashed in rugby vs Sir Ed but it was all good they were just way.....WAY bigger then us. Softball was probley the best for me it was mean as. Crak up as when tim broke off a mall in rugby ran 20 metres up the field then steam rolled this kid and made him cry then gets smashed himself =) and when Ben got his run away...ON THE WING, i thought I was dreaming!!!! Best time of mee life!!!
Yeah Winter Olympics was awesome, It was so cool when we won the netball we had worked really hard and were undefeated throughout the whole week. The Soccer was fun even though we didn't win any of our games. One question, why do we call it Winter Olympics and on our t-shirts it says Coast to Coast Sports Camp?
Hey Hannah, the whole Idea of Winter Olympics comes from a long time ago! It used to be called Winter Olympics, I'm trying to get that changed!! Its a slow process! Tradition is a tough thing to break. Those students with older brothers and sisters who have been through the school still identify it with WO. Will stop next year maybe!
