Well the 26th Olympiad is over and we have once again been treated to a celebration of sport. We have witnessed success and disappointment. We have seen heroic efforts and bodies pushed to the limits. What has been your favourite story from the Games in Bejing? Who is your Olympic hero? Mine is Mahe Drysdale. He won the bronze medal after losing over 4kg due to illness, a serious amount of weight to lose for anyone, least of all an athlete about to compete in an Olympic Final. For an athlete to be as ill as he was and still come through to be 3rd in one of the most gruelling

My olymoic hero is also a BMX rider ,her name is Sarah Walker. She did not win a medal during the games but came fourth in her final race. She tried really hard and that is why i like her.
My favourite Olympian is Hayden roulston because he has had heart problems for a long time and still managed to finish 2nd at the Olympics.
Olympic Heroes
My Olympic Heroes are the Evers-Swindell Twins Georgina and Caroline not only have they won back to back golds at the last two Olympics they have created history by …
‘In the 112-year history of the summer Olympics, no couple, never mind twins, has carried their nation's flag at a closing ceremony’
‘New Zealand Herald’
At Beijing the twins became the first crew in Olympic history to successfully defend the women's double sculls title, beating Germany by .01 seconds in a nail biting final last Saturday.
I think it would be really hard to defend your Olympic gold medal and win it two times in a row.
Imagine the pressure you would be under to do this after been unable to place at the last World Champs Regatta.
Well Valerie Vili is my olympic hero's because at the age of thirteen she had found a great talent. She never gave up on her biggest dream of one day winning a gold medal. Another one of my olympic hero's is Ian Thorpe because in his olympic courier he has won 5 gold 3 silver and 1 bronze.
I agree with you Miss Williams
My favorite Olympic hero is mahi Drysdale because he did the race even though he was sick and he still did the final race and he also had to get a machine to help him breath after the race that is why he is my hero.
they are boring they need more siting
mahe drysdale is my hero because he come third and was sick before his race and after he fainted so he is my hero i would not of raced if i had lost 4 kgs so he is a brave man
Track and field is his game. He comes from Jamaica. He runs like lightning. The wind can’t catch him. No man can either.
Cheetahs would envy him. He is the world’s fastest creature on two legs. He ran 100 meters in a you-gotta-be-kidding-me 9.69 seconds.
Jamicain Sprinter Usain Bolt won 2 Olympic gold medals in the 100 and 200 meter race during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
And the reason why he is my olympic hero is because he loves new zealand, and hes such a cheerful and happy person.
I was really happy because it good to see a Jamicain win a gold medal once and a while.
Usain is also to be knowen as the man that runs in gold shoes. After his final run he took off one of his gold shoes and kissed it.
So thats why he's my olympic hero.
Michal Phelps is my hero because he got 8 gold medals at the Olympics and I have always wanted to see someone to ever get more than 5 gold medals. Phelps just about got 7 gold medals but he just bet the other guy in 100m butterfly he won by 100th of a second. It was the best Race I had ever seen in swimming it was so tense at that one moment that was when he was going for his 7th gold medal. That race was one of the best races at the Olympics the Eva-Swindle twins was another interesting race.
I think Mahe Drysdale is the olyimpic hero because even though he was really sick with the tummy bug he sill did the race and made new zealand proud and he went out their and did his best he could for our country and he got new zealands first medal in the olyimpics i think we should be rally proud of Mahe Drysdale
Yeah I think Mahe Drysdale is cool to but I have a diffrent Olimpic hero.
My Olympic hero is Steve Fergusson. Steve is my hero because he kept his cool when he came 8th place in the k1 500 kayaking.
I think he is lucky because his father came 8th in the k1 500 at the age of 27 witch is the same age as Steve when he came 8th in 2008.
his father also won gold at the age of 31 witch will also be the age of Steve in the next Olympics.
SO BRING ON LONDON!
He is also my hero because I want to represent New Zealand at the Olympics for kayaking but when i have more skills and experience.
So that is why Steve Fergusson is my Olympic hero
My favourite story from the Olympics has been that little lypsyncer called Lin Miake that pretended she was Yang Peiyi who was said to be to ugly to sing.
My Olympic hero is Russia's Evgeniya Kanaeva who has won gold in the rhythmic gymnastics individual competition, getting the high score in all four parts of the event.
Evgeniya got 18.850 on her rope and hoop routines before getting a final score of 18.950.
She finished the competition with a ribbon routine that gave her a total of 75.500.
Evgeniya Kanaeva facts
Age: 18 (date of birth: April 2, 1990)
