Language
As we embark on a study of William Shakespeare this term, it has got me thinking about the ways in which language is constantly changing and evolving. New words are continually being invented as indeed they were by William Shakespeare himself. Old words are being changed in both the way they sound and the way in which they are written. As a teacher, I critisise the use of text language and insist on "proper English" unless of course you are writing a dialogue where slang is relevant. Is it correct to continue doing so? I mean we no longer write as Chauser did in Medieval times or as Shakespeare did in the 1500s, so is it fair to ask students to write as our parents and grandparents did? Or is it time to let the English Language evolve and move on into the 21st Century. Have your say... I'll even accept this one in Txt Language!!!

Im not to worried I don't use text language that much
I think it is important to learn what our ancestors have learnt. We are in a world that is constantly changing , our grandparents and great grandparents would have to learn the ‘new’ language that the youth of the world is speaking today.
Most of us can speak a different language besides english like: Scottish, German , danish, doutch India and welsh. languages are very hard to learn at first but when you know a second language its very handy. Like lets say you have been selected to be a Exchange studen in japan and you get lost at the train station and you speak english thats not very good if your in japan . and if you want to learn another language there's heaps of pepole to learn it off
I think that using text language in every day school work is a bad idea becuase it will affect the learning of your spelling and english.
When note taking, writing reminders and other things you do quickley sure, its a good thing because it gets the job done faster but it's really not helping you and after a while it will start to form a bad habit.
In conclusion i definitly think that we our english language should stay the way it is for the better of all of us.
I think we should spend a small time studying our grandparents style of writing so we could appreciate how much work they put into writing every single day! Also I do not have a phone so I never use text language.
I think that using TXT Language is kool so when U R TXTing 2 someone, the person that u r TXTing 2 will think that u r kool.
Danny.
I'm not too worried about getting into the habit of using text language, I only use it when I'm on Bebo and obviously when I'm texting.
I think text language should not be used in school kids should use proper english.
I think that we should save text language for mobile phones. If we start using text language in our schoolwork then we will soon forget how to spell properly.
I don't really mind because txt language does not come first in my langage.
Over the years languages have changed from medieval times to now in 2008 we have been making up new words and changing them.
TXT language should only be used for mobiles.in every day writing it will be bad because it will forget how to spell the proper way like for proper it is prpr in txt language so in the future we should stop being lazy and start luarning
I dont really care about text language because I dont use it that much. Its not like I'm going to forget the english language in a hurry.
Txt language dosen't really bother me that much, because i only use txt language for txting. And when i do use txt language it dosen't effect my english during school.
I'm like steven I don't use text language that much.
I think txt language shouldnt be alowed to be used at school because if kids us txt language at school wen they go to do their English test the will possibly fail because they didnt use the proper English for their test and then the kids grades will slip
i don't realy care what language i speack Calvin as long as i can talk
txt langauge is preety cool but i dont use it that much because im not big on txting that much.
