After attending the ANZAC parade on Saturday, I was highly impressed with the messages from the Head Boy and Girl from Morrinsville College and it got me thinking as to what ANZAC day means to all of you in Room 6.

To me it is a moment in time to remeber not only those who have fallen in wars of old, but to think of people like my grandfather who fought in the 2nd world war and survived but has since passed away.

To think of all those who are still at war. It also has me thinking about what we have learned? Very little is my thinking, we still witness the horrors of genocide and as a race, many humans remain intolerant of others. War today has a new face, new words...terrorism, gangs, drive by shootings, poverty, domestic abuse... our work last term on human rights taught us that we have a responsibility. A responsibility to honour our grandparents and those who fought for freedom, a responsibility to protect those who are unable to protect themselves. We have a long way to go I think. Let us Remember always those who have gone before us, bravely standing up for all our rights.

To me, ANZAC day commemorates the start of a long and tragic battle. The battle of Gallipoli lasted 8 months. Over 8,000 Australians and 2,500 New Zealand died in that battle. The ANZACs got pulled out after 8 months of fierce battle, with both sides suffering heavy casualties. It is a sad but inspiring battle, in which we didn't winbut we sure put up a great fight

ANZAC day is a day when we remember those brave men and women who went to war and fought for peace in New Zealand and Australia.

My great grandfather went to world war 1 and when I go to a dawn service or ANZAC parade I think about him and others who risked their lives for me and everyone else.

Anazac day is a formal gathering to remember the people that fought for our country and have passed away. And to thank them for the peace they have brought to thsi country. The bravary they have shown us to protect this country is unbelievable. And that is why every year we have a day to remember these brave soliders.

I think Anzac day is a good day to remember the solders that fought in the war to help us. If they didn't help, what life style would we be living in if they hadn't gone to war? I had some of my family go to war to fight for us. I'm really happy that some of my family went to war to fight and keep us safe from other country.

Anzac day is to remember those that died fighting for the freedom we now have today so that we may have a peaceful life without any war but instead of WW1 ending all wars there are still wars in the world today.
