Sad faces fake smiles
Little girls with their hair all up high, styled by a hair stylist. Mascara, eye-liner and bright red lip-stick. Isn’t it cute?
Well I don’t think so. Little children under the age of three are allowed to compete in beauty pageants. Most of the time those boys and girls are forced to enter pageants by their mothers. Which is horrible?
On Christmas night in 1996 Jonbenet Ramsey was murdered and it shocked America to its core. Jonbenet Ramsey was a competitor in beauty pageants and was a very good one too.
These little girls and boys entering beauty pageants means that they don’t get a normal child hood, fake teeth, fake eye-lashes’ and having the experience of being a life like Barbie doll. These children are forced into an adult world, being made into sexual objects far too early in life.
You may have seen the program of beauty pageants on TV the other night after watching that I hope you guys realized how disgusting it really is.
Have a read of these blogs below and let me know what you think.

This is outrages for little children at the age of 3 and 5. I wonder what their parents say to them if they lose. I reckon that when they lose their parents abuse them and sware at them hit them. This should be put a stop to because if the parents make their child enter the beauty compition they might do bet to another childs parents; Mydaughter is rather fancy and yours an't. That is why i think that the little girl died mabey the other pagin mums were thee envy of her and they killed her. It should be legael fo little children to enter a beauty comp.
I agree with you Jordan, there was an interesting documaentary ontv a couple of weeks ago about baby beauty queens and it showed them all grown up. I have to say their self esteem as young adults is pretty low. Many grow up to be spoilt madams and not very nice people.
In this day and age, I can't beleive a parent would expose their child in such a way. There are so many dangers with children being exposed as sex objects, why would anyone willingly do this. The case you talk about is a prime example.
It makes me angry too, just let children be children. Check out this Youtube Vid, its pretty scary

It clearl shows that it is not all fun for the children. Often the parents are more competitive than the children themselves.
It is also incredibly sad that young children are encouraged to think that success comes from being beautiful and that beauty is the most important thing.
This is another good article on the subject.

I am very interested to hear other students point of view on this topic. Thanks Jordan for bringing it up.
Calvin some good points. Check you spelling before you post though!(Type using word) I totally agree with your point about parents becoming competitive.
I think that the idea of forcing young children into competing in beaty pageants is wrong. They should at least be allowed to decide for theirselves and if they still choose to compete then they shouldnt be wearing make-up at the age of three. They should be allowed to live like a normal young child not like a barbie doll.
Amber and Andrina, you both made very valid points. I totally agree with both of you.
Jordan, I watched that programme too and fully agree with you. I think it shows that their parents are sad people to use and abuse their daughters in that way. It's almost as if the mothers were losers when they were younger and are now wanting their children's success for their own glory. Many of the girls must grow up with a very twisted view of the real world and what to value. A sad state of affairs!
This is sad that people would do this to children at this age to enter a comp like this why are they alowed they dont even know what they are doing. why would someone let their kids enter something they dont even know about?
I think its not good for little girls to be running around with make-up on because my dad WILL NOT let me out make-up on so that shows how protective of me.
HEY JORDAN I SO AGREE WITH YOU GREAT OPINION.
I totally agree with all of these coments they are 100% correct. There should be a punshment for parents who do this. Usally dressing up like this has been for little girls that dress into a fairy costume. But now parents have token it to whole new level.
