This weeks discussion topic is "Boyracers". Have your say, are boyracers a problem? Is it the cars or the drivers? Are there any solutions? Is it a serious crime or simply fun? What do you think?
I think that boy racing is stupid and really dangerous and has killed and injured lots of people . It is noisy and illegal. People who do boy racing are stupid because they put their own and other peoples lifes at risk. On the news there has been recent deaths from boy racing.
Boy racing is mostly done at night so it disturbs and wakes people. People who live in cities in parts where boyracing is done find it a problem. People who do boy racing have to face the consiquences. The consiquences are you could face 3 months in prison, fines of up to $4,500 and lose your licence for at least 6 months. Police may impound your car for 28 days at your expence – effective immediately. If you injure or kill while doing this, you could go to prison for up to 5 years, or face a fine of up to $20,000 and lose your licence for 1 year. Amber.
I think boy racers are a disgrace to a community they are loud and obnoxious because they are putting other drivers and civilians in danger with their reckless driving.
I think it is stupid to do boy racing because you are risking other people’s lives like the boy who got hit starting a race at Mount Maunganui in 2007. In my opinion they should put cameras on the main places people do boy racing and if you get caught you should get a $1000 dollar fine. They have now set a law that says boy racers face $500 fines if they get caught in Tauranga’s industrial area .
Boy racers are stupid they modify their cars for the wrong reson, like illegal racing. I know this because I used to live on one of Morrinsville's most popular racing streets they race up and down the street all night.

They should put the driving age up to 18 to 20 years of age because too many young people are dying on the streets, like the 15 year old boy at Mt maunganui. A 50-year-old in a ford falcon can be fined and prosecuted under the boy racer act just like a 18-year-old in a VTEC Honda Civic. I think the boy racer act should only apply to specific illegal street racing and agree that cars should be taken away from the drivers

So I think the police should be harder on them and any boyracers caught should have they licence taken off them for ever

They should have places that they can go like on our farm we let them have burnout comptions on our siladge pad and then we get all the tires,It saves them having to do it all over the roads. If they get thir listances taken off them it should be off for good or atleast 5 to 10years.

I think boyracers are just racing because they think it's cool, but it's not!!! They are racing down the main road of Te Rapa and are scaring the tourists as that road has many hotels/motels. There is alot of evidence that this is happening just ask anyone that has stayed or lived down that road.

In New Zealand they should stop selling powerful cars to those younger than 21 years old and also should higher up yhe driving age to 18. New Zealand has the lowest driving age in the world at 15 in India, Denmark, Germany and South Africa itis 18.

i think there should be a raceway for boy-racers so they don't cause trouble in the city.
